Did anyone go to Phoenix?

So did anyone make it to the Phoenix show? I am curious as to how it played out. I heard that the AC was broke at the Varsity and the show was completely sold out - what an interesting and sweaty night that must have been!

In other Varsity news indie stars Ra Ra Riot have announced a return show to Minneapolis this September. They are still promoting their debut, The Rhumb Line, on a lengthy headlining tour starting in September. Some dates they will be still an opening act for bands Death Cab for Cutie, The New Pornographers, and Andrew Bird. On the dates Ra Ra Riot will headline the openers will be Princeton and Maps & Atlases.

I'm pretty sure that last time Ra Ra Riot was in town they played at First Avenue, which holds 400-500 more people. If this is a show you're really wanting to attend be sure to buy your Varsity Theater tickets now. Ra Ra Riot tickets at the Varsity Theater are on sale now!

Josh Ritter show announced!

Singer/sound writer Josh Ritter will be in town for a Varsity Theater. He is taking a break from the Fine Line, which is where Josh Ritter usually plays when he is in town.
Born in Moscow, Idaho, Josh Ritter has a very traditional story of his rise to success. Starting out playing small clubs and open mic nights around his college town he caught the eye of a an Irish band, the Frames, and eventually went back to Ireland with them to record and make music.
After learning how much he made on cd sales at open mic nights Josh Ritter was able to make enough money to stop odd coffee shop jobs and just do music full time. The following album, Golden Age of Radio cost Ritter only $1000 to make.

He was signed to V2 Records in 2005 and is currently touring in support of his latest album.

Varsity Theater tickets for Josh Ritter are on sale now and will sell out fast - all of Josh's shows have sold out at the Fine Line!
